The best thing about Day Two of the Deloitte RAB is that there’s still a week left. And if the next seven days are anything like today, I’ll be spending an awful lot of time watching other cyclists fly past as a nice man with oily fingernails repairs my bike. Today I had a spoke blow itself out of my wheel as I hurtled downhill with all the speed of a man who only real strength is the descent, and I had three punctures. Three. 
My immediate reaction, naturally, was to blame the manufacturer of said machine. However, as one white-bearded passer by pointed out without being asked, I am putting rather a lot of weight through this poor road bike. It will be fit for the scrapheap if and when I finish this thing, but it ought to get me across the line.
My foremost memory of today will be the dissolving effect my heft had on my steed, but a close second will be the route. Too many hills, without question, but my goodness the views we have been afforded are movie scene stuff. Even I, an uncultured ape whose heart is averaging 200 beats per minute, managed to appreciate what I was seeing. Just incredible.
